I first met with Cail and Ashley in June, 2016. They had some exciting events coming up in their life. Not only were they deep into planning for their August wedding, but they were also planning for their first baby, due in December. They were both glowing with excitement. They discussed their plans for this gorgeous outdoor wedding and reception at the Bowe House Inn in Tiffin, Ohio.
August 27th, 2016 arrived and the day started out sunny and beautiful. I checked the radar again when I arrived and the gut wrenching sight of storms was in the forecast, every bride and grooms worst fear when they are planning an outdoor wedding and reception. I decided I better review the details of the rain plan. I was met with loads of optimism, "It won't rain, but if it does, here's what we will do... But, it won't rain." So we proceeded as planned.
Cail and Ashley's family were rushing around, inside and outside of Bowe House Inn, taking care of every last detail Cail and Ashley had planned for their big day. Meanwhile Ashley and her bridesmaids were calmly getting ready in one of the suites upstairs and Cail and his groomsmen would be arriving soon.
When I first met Cail and Ashley I was very impressed with Cail's involvement in their wedding planning. He said she was busy with planning for their baby while he was busy taking care of the wedding details. So, it was no surprise when the wedding day came and Cail showed up making sure all of the details were in place so Ashley could relax, enjoy their special day and just be the beautiful bride that she was.
Romantic touches were not amiss as this day unfolded. Cail and Ashley had their bridal party deliver their gifts and letters to each other before the ceremony, making sure they didn't see each other before Ashley walked down the aisle.
All of the details were in place, the guests were taking their seats and the wedding party was beginning to line up inside the Bowe House Inn, waiting to walk down the aisle. Everything was perfect, except the storm clouds approaching. Quickly it began to rain and the guests went rushing inside the inn and under the dinner tent. When other couples would have started to panic, Cail kept his cool and started rearranging and compromising for a make shift ceremony under the tent. It wasn't exactly what they had hoped for but all that really mattered to Ashley and Cail was that the day went on and that their love would overcome all obstacles in their way. And it did just that.
As a symbol of their humble love for one another Ashley and Cail washed each other's feet. In John 13: 1-17, Jesus washed his disciples feet and instructed that we should do the same, demonstrating that we are all equals and cleansed in our walk with Christ.
After the ceremony the guests mingled as Cail and Ashley took a little time out for themselves.
Time for the Reception!
Ashley and Cail were a perfect reminder that things don't always go as planned. In fact, more often than not, they don't. But, that isn't what is important. What is important is that we keep
focused on the things that should be filling our hearts such as our love for one another. So, when the storm blows in and the thunder rumbles, the lightening strikes, and the rain comes
pouring down, count your blessings, make the most of life, put a smile on your face and love on!
Thank you Ashley and Cail for asking me to capture your beautiful love!
